I have made just about every possible money mistake, but I made changes which, without question, have altered the course of my life in a way that can't truly be described in just a few sentences. The short version is, I went from being completely broke and heavily in debt to now building considerable wealth and—besides a home mortgage—not owing a dime of debt to anyone. Quite importantly to the story, I achieved that by unifying with my wife about how we would handle the money that came into our household. We figured out how to work together.

 

Long ago, Mrs. Budke and I developed Governing Financial Principles for our home and our family. This almost instantly puts us on the same page about big financial decisions. And even if one of us values something differently than the other, we can function together in a highly effective way because we agreed to never violate our Principles.
